Our Vision

We strive to build community, instill confidence, nourish creativity, promote curiosity, and cultivate compassion for generations to come.

What this looks like in practice

Small Class Sizes

We cap our classes at 13 students in kindergarten and 15 in other grades. This allows teachers to provide more individualized, child-centered learning, and creates opportunities for exploration and group cooperation.

Multi-Age Classes

Research (and our own experience!) has shown that schools featuring multi-age relationships among children, teachers, and families offer profound academic, social, and emotional advantages.

A Sense of Community

Every student in the school has the chance to know one another as individuals, while families are active in many facets of school life, from supervising lunchtime recess to sharing their skills in the classroom.

Social Emotional Learning

For any academic program to succeed, a child must feel safe, seen and supported. That’s why we view social emotional learning not as a supplemental add-on, but as a fundamental element of our day-to-day program.

We are as committed to teaching literacy and numeracy as we are to respectful communication and conflict resolution skills. From this solid foundation, students can grow their resilience and confidence.

An Appreciation of Nature

Our school’s beautiful setting provides countless ways to learn, play, or just take a quiet moment to reflect on the wonders of nature. It also offers us a daily reminder of the world that our students will inherit, and our shared responsibility to help protect it.
