Members of the Board
Willow Lampard – Chair
Our family came to Salt Spring in July 2006, supposedly for a couple of months, to provide service and experience living in community at the Salt Spring Centre of Yoga. Our children, now alumni, attended SSCS for 5 years. I joined the SSCS board in 2007. I feel privileged to serve the Yoga Centre and the School: to support, guide and learn from our wonderful community of caring students, staff and parents.
David Baukol – Treasurer
When our family was planning on a move to Salt Spring Island from Singapore in the summer of 2012, we didn’t have a plan for schooling (or any other plan for that matter). Friends recommended we enrol the kids in the Centre School. We appreciated and trusted their recommendation, signed up sight unseen and are really glad we did! I have enjoyed the true sense of community from Day 1. Both Zoey and Evan love their teachers and friends. Thank you!
Charlotte Bowman – Secretary
My family and I moved to Salt Spring Island in the summer of 2012 and our daughter, Freya, started at the school in the Fall of that year. I joined the SSCS Board in 2013. I love the feeling I get when I walk into the school, it is warm and welcoming rather than institutional. My daughter cannot wait to go to school everyday, I chose to join the board to help in the continuation of this positive school environment.
After moving to Salt Spring in 2005 I started a small business and became a multi-tasking mom. The Salt Spring Centre School has been a natural fit, with the small nurturing environment and great school community. I appreciate the way that the Centre School instills a love of knowledge and prioritizes social and emotional learning. My family has been involved with the school since my son, Kieran, started kindergarten in 2011.
On our first trip to Salt Spring in 2001 we knew one day this would be home, fast forward to August 2013 and we made the move. When we first came to visit the Centre School we fell in love and knew that with the small class sizes, nurturing teachers, as well as the many extras like French, gardening and whole school plays just to name a few, this was the only school for our boys Zach and Alex. Since starting with the school I have been involved in many ways so when the opportunity came available to join the board I was pleased to step up and help in any way I could. I look forward to the next 4 years with the school!
My family moved to Salt Spring in 2012, when our son, Cameron, was a year old. He joined the Kindergarten class in the fall of 2015 and has loved going to school ever since. We were initially interested in SSCS due to the enrichment programs and small class sizes. We have since discovered how much we also appreciate the school environment and community. I happily joined the Board in 2017.
